I am between bankruptcy and foreclosure. My “B” hearing was back in Oct 2007. My attorney told me to keep my homeowners insurance because until I moved I was still liable for any accident/injuries that occured. My question is what would happen if I needed to file a claim? How does my situation affect the payout of my insurance..

I have one Home owners insurance policy. It just barely covers the cost of rebuilding which is close to the mortgage amount, in case of fire etc. Can I get a 2nd Home owners insurance policy to compensate me for my losses outside of the actual building of the house it self?

Yo asked: I plan on calling the insurance company tomorrow, but before I do, I thought I’d ask here first, just out of curiosity, to see if this is generally a covered expense or not (and if it isn’t normally covered, if there are ever exceptions to allow something like this.)
A bad thunderstrom blew through, and following this a leak y wet spot developed the ceilings in one of the rooms. Not bad, but definitely coming through the roof, and definitely something that needs to be repaired.
Should I expect homeowners to cover something like this?
thanks.

Due to extended unemployment, a required out-of-state move, and inability to sell my home, foreclosure is underway. My homeowners insurance company hasn’t received payment from my mortgage escrow and is asking me to pay the bill. Obviously the mortgage company isn’t going to pay anything out of escrow right now. Do I need to keep homeowners insurance on the home while waiting for foreclosure to be finalized?

I am looking for a good company to get homeowners insurance with. I have looked at few companies and have gotten quotes from AIG, Progressive, geico, usaa, state farm, and farmers insurance. So far Farmers insurance is the cheapest and geico is the most exspensive but gives great coverage. I guess I would like to know are these companies any good and are there any websites that I can look at see reports about them.
Thanks

I was doing some work at my neighbors house when I fell in their garage. When I got up I noticed that one of my implants had ruptured. Do you think their homeowners insurance will cover that?

I am rephrasing my previous question here. Thanks to the few of you who did answer my previous question. Selling the house is NOT an option that we can do at this time. We are looking for reasonable homeowners insurance not, car insurance. If you know of any companies who can or will write a reasonable plan, please share them with us. Thank you
