How much does a homeowner’s insurance broker make?

ThatBiGChooch asked:

I am in the mortgage industry and i assume it would be an easy layup to cross sell homeowners insurance with every mortgage transaction.

Any input from an experienced broker/agent?

by “exclusions,” i mean the quaintly worded paragraph “what is not covered” as well as the designated “exclusions.”

by “homeowners insurance” i mean iso form HO-3 or other iso form sold to consumers rather than commercial enterprises.
interesting that the insurance hacks are answering the other question about homeowners insurance being a scam by saying that it is valuable, but are ducking this one.

their stock answer will be “read the policy.”

as if. i am a coverage attorney and to the extent that i can even read it, it excludes coverge of anything and everything.

Homeowner Insurance?

CiCi L asked:

Hello. My father was working on the roof and fell off from there. His feet are injuried and he will have to sit in the wheelchair for 3 months. I read about Personal Liability in his insurance policy, but I am not clear if this will cover his medical cost. Any information will be helpful. I can’t contact my agency right now, because of the Thanksgiving holiday. My insurance claim department are not licensed to give me any information.
We do not have any health insurance at all. The family is under a great stress because we have no idea how to pay off the medical bill. My parents do not qualify for Medicare because they are not US citizens. Is there any assistance for medical bills for legal citizens?

Home owner’s insurance for condominium house?

john12 asked:

I live in a housing complex in a condominium. I have taken home owner’s insurance policy as required by mortgage company. Recently my insurance company informed me that they are removing ‘ earth quake ‘ coverage from policy from next renewal cycle as it is not economical to the insurance company.

My questions are –

a) As general rule what kind of insurance one should take. I mean – fire, theft, flood, earth quake, tornado, hurricane, twister etc.
b) what monetary coverage one should go for ? I mean say house is of 300,000 value.
c) If the present company does not give earth quake coverage, then should I consider going to other company.
d) Can any one give some ideal what will be the premium per year for getting all above coverage for 300,000 value house.
I have read the answers of – mbrcatz17, hi91977 and harrell1956. Thanks,
But my questions still unanswered are -

a) Should I take coverage for Earth quake, Hurricane, Twister, Tornado and flood. I live in new jersey. It is not flood zone area.

b) I existing premium is 300 $/year for Fire, earthquake, hurricane but without flood. Now my company is removing Earth quake and said it will save $ 17 /year. If I go to another insurance company what will it cost appx. for earth quake coverage ? And should I go for it or not ?

If I have someone live with me, will my insurance cover their belongings at the same level as mine? I know there may be special clauses in insurance contracts, but in general any assistance would be great!
