Little Lisa asked:

My seven year old daughter was burned at a New Years Eve party by fireworks on twenty percent of her body. We spent 27 days in the Shriners Childrens Burn unit in Cincinatti Ohio and our lives as we once knew them have completely changed. I was told by an attorney not to speak with the insurance company, but I am afraid to hire the attorney because he will get a third of the money. We have received numerous bills and granted our medical insurance is paying 80% but were left paying the other 20% and she is going to need medical care for the rest of her life. Also my med insurance will only handle 60 physical therapy treatments and she is doctor ordered 3 to 5 a week and has lost alot of range of motion in her left arm that she almost lost due the injuries. Can I trust the homeowners insurance and is thier best intrest the care of my daughter or should I hire the attorney that is really eager to jump in & take over? Any Advice? I feel as if they are passing the liability on my husband???
We were at a very close friends house when this had happened, somebody besides the home owner brought mortar shell fireworks which are illegal in the state of Florida, this person was not licensed, did not anchor them and unravelled more than half of the 3 thousand dollars that he paid for and ask my husband to help, my daughter followed my husband and 3 other children on a boat dock under a roof. The man that bought them, his 14 year old son and my husband were all three lighting them and a spark caught MOST of them on fire and my daughter was caught in the middle while the whole thing blew up at once. It could of been my husbands that spark the rest, my daughter thinks it was the 14 years old that hit the roof. We honestly do not know. THANK YOU FOR YOUR ADVICE, ANY IS APPRECIATED.

What can i do about my mortgage company adding and charging me for homeowners insurance when i already have it and showed them proof. I got my loan modified and my mortgage company asked for proof of homeowners insurance, which i had and was paid in full for a year. I submmited proof numerous times and they didn’t except it. Finally the last time i submitted proof i didn’t hear from them. So when it came time to make my first payment after my mortgage was modified i found out that they where adding on homeowners insurance even though i already had it on my property. I got help from a foreclosure specialist and they got my payments lowered from $2,300 to $1,700 per month but right before i went to make my first payment to my mortgage company i called the people who were helping me with my modification to confirm the payment amount and at the last minute they tell me that instead of $1,700 its now going to be $2,247 because my mortgage company added H.O.I to the payment. I told the guy thats rediculous isnt that against the law for them to do that and i asked him what i should do and he said i should just pay it. Which i couldnt. I did make about 5 payments until i just couldnt do it anymore. So now i’m losing my property again i already recieved the notice of trustee sale. I really had my hopes set on that $1,700 a month. I signed a contract between me and my mortgage company stating that i the owner of the property would be responsible to pay the property taxed and the homeowners insurance on my own. That modification was back in march of 08. I really dont know what to do or who to talk to. I dont know if a foreclosure specialist is the people who i need to be talking to. I am the first person in my family to own a property and this is the first property i have owned and i’m very young and naive as you can see. So what should i do who should i talk to? By doing research I also found out that my mortgage company has class action lawsuits against them for this same reason. I also know i should talk to a real estate lawyer but how do i find one. Just open the yellowpages close my eyes and point??? Its so frustrating!!! Its so complicated for the average person to understand whats going on and how things work. You need to take real estate classes just to own a house just to know whats really going on and what your getting yourself into. Any advice would be great thanks….and i live in the state of california by the way.
Dana R that is exactly what i did!!! They didnt except it!!! And i am sure that its homeowners insurance not PMI!
That is why they asked me for proof they wanted updated proof which i gave to them. As a matter of fact i had just paid my H.O.I and for a full year at that. After submitting the decleration of insurance time after time i finally asked the insurance company which is farmers and asked them to fax it themselves and they did but the mortgage company still didnt except it. And my rep from farmers even said that something doesnt seen right and its really fishy that they dont want to except it! I did my part it the mortgage company whos messing with me!

Twist asked:

i have a few trees that are near my property line, they are Eucalyptus trees and those have a tendancy to drop large brances from time to time, if one of these trees dropped a big enough brance it could land on my neighbors house or car , i am planning to just cut the trees down to avoid this ever happeneing because i cant afford to pay for the damage they cause, but i was wondering if maybe my insurance might take care of that sort of thing, id hate to have to lose the shade those trees provide just because there is some chance that someday they will cause damage.
i have no idea who my insurance company is, it was all taken care of when i bought the house and i just pay the mortgage, its all payed that way.

by the way if you give me an answer like “every polocy is different ” or “check with your insurance provider” im going to flag it, stupid answers are irritating and should be banned from Answers. dont answer a question if you DONT HAVE AN ANSWER!

Oklahoma Homeowners Insurance?

theeriktodd asked:

About this time last year we had a house fire. Complete nightmare, from the insurance company. I was accused of knowing the contractor, and a million other things that didn’t really matter. Plus the adjuster really screwed us over, he estimated prices using a estimator that was like 8 years out of date, and it equaled about a $12,000 or 15% difference. Also, he refused to pay for items lost in my “garage”, which is actually a converted garage divided up into a den and a laundry room. There were also structural items he did not pay for, such as floors that were damaged and a screen door that he said the firefighters broke and they would have to pay for.

Here’s the issue. In Oklahoma if your policy has been active for 45 days it cannot be cancelled or nonrenewed for the first claim, unless of course you don’t pay. Well I got my policy January 23, 2007. The fire happened January 14, 2008, policy renewed January 23, 2008, and it was subsequently cancelled on February 8. 2008 and I was given until March 8, 2008 to find new coverage (Under law they have to give you 30 days notice, and the letter was dated Feb 8, but I got it like Feb 15). Anyhow, with as many problems as I had, I waited until the claim was completely done before questioning the company. It has been sold out of state now, but is still operating under the same name. Do I have any rights here? I lost close to $10,000 of items that were never paid for, and of course this mess. I of course want to be reimbursed for these items, but the company will not even return calls now. What are the penalties for companies that violate the law?

I Got hurt at someones house need to see a doctor what do I do?
I have insurance through school, but since its summer and I’m not a full time student the insurance doesn’t kick in until August again.

On Sunday I was a someone house and their swing set collapsed and the top bars that hold it together hit me in the head.
I had to go to the ER, and get 7 stitches & Catscans.
On Wednesday I’m supposed to get them removed. They assured me that they were going to report the claim to their homeowners insurance I have been waiting for 5 days and they still haven’t opened up a claim. are they liable for this?
What am I supposed to do? And the hospital is calling me to take care of my bill.
