A question asked by camronphil: can an insurance company charge who is responsible for destroyed property?
im guessing this is a property insurance company, if property was destroyed, and the owner of the property claimed the money with the insurance company, can the insurance company then go and charge the person who damaged the property?
The top answer:
Answer by Margarita D Absolutely they not only can but are required to. It is called subrogation. The insurance company will collect not only what they paid out but also attempt to recover the insured’s deductible which will be returned to them if the insurance company is successful. Just because something is covered by insurance should not mean that someone who caused the damage through their negligence should be given a free pass!
A question from Babylon Neg: How can I verify that the rate provided by a property insurance company is true? (it is S&P rate)?

A question from answer: Why should people who dont pay insurance get a free house?
Example:
Two different families own a house each, earn around the same income. One family goes without to pay house insurance, the other doesn’t care.
The person who doesn’t pay insurance has their house burn down – the community donate them a free house.
WHY?
What is the point of sacrifice if those who don’t invest in their future get more?
I AM ANGRY
Because for years i have been without, our whole family has, while those around us have skipped insurance and had extra.
A fire happened and the neighbours will be better off than before the fire, it makes me wonder why i sacrifice when these people get what ever they need ?

Question by : Would you be likely to shop for homeowners insurance on a night/weekend or during the week?
I currently work for an insurance agency and I sell homeowners insurance. I am considering getting a cell phone to answer calls after 5:00pm and on weekends. I am not sure how lucrative this would be. Do people primarily look for insurance during the week or do they seek convenience on nights and weekends?
Selected answer:
Answer by Jas I used to try and shop in the evenings and weekends for insurance, however I have learned that to talk to a person you must be able to converse with them during the day or via email. My agent does business with me either during the day or via email. Although it would be nice to be able to contact my agent during the eve – I have never found one that did – so if you bought a cell for eves you may find no one calling because it is not the norm for agents to be available in the evening.

Question by dolphinite_bottom: Who is ultimately responsible to pay on a property insurance claim?
During the process of repairing our home, after a fire, some of our personal property was damaged by various sub contractors and the fire department.
We have replacement value property insurance.
Who is legaly responsible to cover those damages? My insurance company or the company/person/dept. that caused the damage? What if I don’t know? What if they won’t pay?
Thank you,
Dolphinite
Top answer:
Answer by MSAD Can’t sue the fire department. Property gets damaged when they have to put out the fire to keep the whole house from burning down. Do you really want them to move very slowly and worry about not entering the window b/c they could break your lamp? Or would you just rather they get in their and put the fire out. Not to mention, the water they use to put the fire out causes a whole bunch of damage. The fire department damage would be covered under the homeowners claim that pays for the damage directly caused by the fire.
What did the sub’s damage? You can speak with
the contractor who is doing the repairs about that.
However, since we don’t know what property you say was damaged, there is limited help we can provide here.

A question from Southern Belle: I have personal property insurance for my apartment. We just bought a house & will have homeowners insurance?
Do I cancel the personal property insurance since we are moving into our new home next month? Also, do I still need Personal property insurance on our new home if we have homeowner’s insurance with another company already?
My chosen answer:
Answer by Paul Cancel your renters insurance policy and get a homeowners policy. Depending on the contents of your house, you may need a rider for additional insurance.
One of the many excellent videos I have discovered recently on the topic of property insurance.
Douglas Brockhouse, partner with Bender Commercial Real Estate Services in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, discusses the different types of real estate insurance.

A question asked by You are forgvin (fake rep): Is there house insurance for akita owners? House insurance companies wont sell it to me because i have an akit?
akita. My parents want to give it away, but i like to keep it.
The insurance guy said, No one would sell you house insurance with this dog, when my mom ask to switch insurances.
Anyway i can make a deal with them that if the dog does something, i will pay for it, not the insurance company.
My chosen answer:
Answer by Heather’s mom Shop around different insurance companies. You don’t want to be left without insurance just in case. I’m not talking about your dog destroying a couch or something you can pay for – I’m talking about what if the dog bites someone and you get sued for a lot of money. When we got our dog, our breed had been taken off the “hot dog” list – so keep calling around until you find a company that will insure you.
