A question asked by blackoutparty111: are property taxes and insurance considered part of manufacturing overhead?
i have to do a manufacturing overhead budget. i have some variable costs and fixed costs. i know that all of the variable costs are part of manufacturing overhead, and i know that i should not include depreciation and amortization in my total manufacturing overhead.

i’m just not sure what to do with property taxes and insurance. do i include it in total MOH?

The No 1 answer:

Answer by Jen
If the property taxes and insurance relate directly to the manufacturing plant, then they will be part of your overhead.
Your other statements are incorrect. Factory equipment depreciation will be included in your overhead. It also sounds like you might be assuming that all variable costs are part of MOH, which is not true.
Manufacturing overhead is pretty much anything you need to make a product that can’t be classified as a direct material or direct labor. Also, make sure not to include marketing / administrative costs in your overhead budget.

A question from tommie: Do I need to have a lawyer to lookover my house insurance plan?
I am not so sure that I understand it (as a matter of fact, I don’t understand it!) Is there any way I can get it in plain english or should I just go for the lawyer ?

My chosen answer:

Answer by Magick
Those insurance plans can get weird but most are standard is you deal with a reputable agent and they should take the time to go over it with you and explain the basic parts of it.

But it doesn’t hurt to have a lawyer do a quick read of it considering how much it will cost over the years.

A question from Kester: Should my insurance, BlueCross/BlueShield pay for a dog bite injury which happened at someone elses house?
My son was bitten by a dog at our friend’s house. My insurance, BC/BS, will not pay for the injury to be treated claiming that our friend’s ‘Homeowners” insurance should pay for it. However our friend’s are renters and have NO insurance, and NO money. Am I going to have to pay for this myself out of pocket? I feel like my insuance company has abaondend me and my son. If my son was to get injured at my house (which has happened before) BC/BS would and has paid for it and not claimed that my homeowners insurance should pay for it. Any ideas on how to proceed? Suing our friends who have no money will only cost me money and result in getting zero from them.

Well, yes, and then THEY can sue your friend for reimbursement.

Your friend should have had RENTERS insurance, to cover the bite. If your insurance pays for the bite, then they WILL sue your friend – so without insurance, your friend will have to pay for this, or have his wages garnished forever until they get reimbursed. That subrogation clause IS their right, and it’s in the health insurance policy.

It’s HIGHLY unusual for an insurance company to say they won’t pay. Have you told them he has no insurance? I’d tell them that, AND ask them to put the DECLINATION IN WRITING, so you can submit it to your state insurance commissioner for review.

That ought to light a fire under their rumps. And as soon as you have it in writing, submit it – but I don’t think you’ll have to, because I think they’ll pay when you tell them that.

What are some home insurance companies in FL?

Question by JBrown: What are some home insurance companies in FL?
I am looking for a list of home insurance companies in FL, or if not a list if anyone can tell me the name of a few? Thank you very much!

No 1 answer:

Answer by mbrcatz
Your options are extremely limited.

There’s a handful of NEW companies writing homeowners insurance in Florida – but they’re not rated. When I’ve looked at financials for a few of them, they aren’t solvent enough to be reliable in case of a hurricane.

Citizens, the state fund, writes the MOST homeowners policies in the state. There is a “takeout” program, where there are five companies also writing homeowners, here’s the link: http://www.floridahomeownersinsuranceinfo.com/Homeowners-Insurance-Companies/Florida-Homeowners-Insurance-Companies.html

But your best bet is to contact a local agent.

Your options are very limited, and the pricing in FL for property insurance is astronomical.

How big is the claim for home insurance?

A question asked by OneEye: How big is the claim for home insurance?
Okay, if we make too many small little claims for home, our rate would jump and if enough they may cancel the insurance. If that is so? how big should a claim be to benefit us the homeowner? If claiming the big claim only the case? Should we even consider buying additional coverages?

Best answer:

Answer by Ginger
Generally, if the loss is under $ 1000, it is in your best interest to handle it out of pocket. You shouldn’t be filing more than one claim every 8 to 10 years if you are average…

Think filing of claims for major hail damage to roof or siding, fires, sump pump failure floods basement (if you have backup sewer and drain which is one endorsement a lot of people should have), water hose on fridge or washer breaks…

Think of handling out of pocket for spill on a carpet, hole in the wall, broken window, etc.
