		<description>Sort of true.  Not so much in CA, but in the deep south, water claims mean potential mold claims.  Most companies have since enacted some pretty strong mold exclusions on their policies, so it&#039;s not so bad.

HOWEVER.  If you mean, can you sell your house with existing water damage - depending on the extent of the water damage, a new buyer would either not be able to buy insurance, or they would be given 30 days to repair the damage - not much time. 

So, as always, you have to ask yourself - how much is the damage.  If you can repair it yourselves for under $1,000, or under or close to your deductible, do it yourself.  If it&#039;s going to cost thousands over the deductible, and you&#039;re not in a mold prone area, then file the claim.  And I don&#039;t think most of CA has the same type of mold issues as the deep south.</description>
