Did my homeowners insurance company give me enough for my roof claim?
Houston, TX
American Risk Insurance
My insurance company sent me a check (still have) for my roof claim. Here is what they gave me.
Remove Shingles, 3-Tab, 28.27 SQ@ $25.00
Asphalt, 25yr
Replace Shingles, 3-Tab, 31.33 SQ@ $127.45 material
Asphalt, 25yr 28.33 SQ@ $57.55 labor
Are these dollar amounts per SQ reasonable or too low.
I ask because these amounts were modified from what the independent adjuster had written. I know this because it was marked by an asterisk.

WHY were they modified?
I’m in Houston. My 2600 square foot roof cost me $5700 to get replaced with 20 year shingles. If they’re only replaceing 30 squares of roof, you’re going to run up to minimums to get the job done. You’ll need your roofing contractor to talk to the insurance company so they can get a mutually agreeable price.
They normally depreciate for the age of the roof, and after the repairs are done, will pay you the difference – and then they also subtract the deductible from the amount.
