Yes you do. AND taxes are pro-rated or adjusted as well as interest on the mortgage.
.
Thanks for asking your Q! I enjoyed answering it!
VTY,

usually. I think all insurance is in advance.
it is needed thusly to spread the risks.
At least around here, buyers usually have to pay three things in advance of Closing, everything else is paid AT Closing:
1. One year of Insurance
2. The cost of an Appraisal
3. An Application Fee to the Broker
Very seldom is the Settlement Agent allowed by the Lender to pay the Insurance from Closing, but sometimes the Broker covers the Appraisal if they think the chances of Closing are very strong, and some Brokers have no application fee at all.
* Oh, for completeness… if the Buyer has a Home Inspection, that is paid for outside of Closing. It is not required, but it is a really good idea. It is one thing that doesn’t tend to appear on the Settlement Statement, as it is between the Buyer and the Inspector, and doesn’t involve the Lender or necessarily involve the Seller.
Yes, you do pay homeowners insurance in advance. Taxes are in arrears. That is perfectly normal.
i would think so. i would ask the realtor to see.
