The norm for homeowners policies is, the policy will cover a problem if it was damage that caused it. If the hole developed from “wear and tear” or just “age rust” then most likely, it will not be covered.

No it does not, unless you specified it somehow in the time you created your policy. You need someone to drain the tank, clean it and weld a patch on the inside. If you can drain the tank yourself and clean it, this will save you a large amount of money, and trained welders charge around $50-75 an hour., not including a show up fee.

That depends entirely on what your policy says. Some may cover it, others dont.
