For homeowners insurance to cover items lost in a vehicle break-in, does the break-in on the owners property?

I recently moved out of my parents home to another state but had not yet switched my car registration, tags, and insurance to the new state so the car is still registered to my parents home. My car was recently broken into in the parking lot of my new apartment and my insurance company is saying that the items stolen would only be covered by homeowners insurance. Since I have not yet switched my registration to the new state, do I still have a claim with my parents homeowners insurance. Also, I do not have renters insurance at my current apartment.

No.
You don’t live in your parents house, or their state. Just because the car hasn’t been switched over, doesn’t change that.
You have no renters insurance. You’re uninsured. Sorry.
If you try to say that you ARE living at your parents, you will have to explain why you have this other apartment and job in another state. They will investigate. You will be found out.
Plus, only your parents could file that claim, and, the check would go to them. Their deductible would be subtracted from the value of the items.
you are out of luck to file claim, unless your are a university student taking your parent’s car to university with the knowledge of the insurance company. It happened to my sons.
homeinsurance.awardspace.us – try this one. Got my home insurance from them. As I know they provide such a service.
Jonathan H, Home insurance is actually very flexible. I’m not familiar with all the fine print of my policy, but my homeowners insurance agent is always helpful. Try visting your agent or a agent in your city. They will be able to assist you.
