Take photos now. I was robbed, and since then I have kept a running spreadsheet of my valuables and the prices I paid for them. I submitted high dollar items, or lists of collectibles to my insurance company before they could be damaged or stolen.
Insurance companies do not require reciepts. They are awfully helpful though. Take photos and make a list of your belongings and give each item an approx. value of how much it would cost to replace it.
These are not required by the insurance company either. But it makes life easier if you have a claim for the insurance company to settle your claim.
And, by the way, ask your insurance company if they cover your dog for liability. Some companies do and some don’t. But you might want to know.
Everyone should have a dog. They are great at keeping people away.
photos, or videotape. Take a camcorder, walk around the house, do close ups on serial numbers for big ticket items. Keep the data off premises.
