Is hail damage to a vehicle covered by homeowners insurance?

JA asked:
Just last week we had a severe hail storm and unfortunately it caused damage to my vehicle. Would that be covered by homeowners insurance since it was on the property at the time of the storm? I do not have full coverage on my car, that is why I am asking.

Sorry, no. That would only be covered under the Comprehensive or Other than Collision coverage of an auto policy.
That coverage is usually pretty inexpensive, so it may be worth it to get a quote just to see if it’s something you could easily afford in case you have another occasion to use it. When my clients called to cancel comprehensive and collision I always recommended they keep the comprehensive, and once I quoted it most did.
Best of luck!
No, it’s covered by “comprehensive” under your auto policy.
Your homeowners policy NEVER covers your car. That’s what your CAR insurance is for.
If you didn’t buy comprehensive, you’re uninsured.
No.
Home owners insurance specifically excludes damage to motor vehicles.
Even if the car was parked in your garage and the house/garage burned to the ground – the car would not be covered by the homeowners insurance.
If you do not have Comprehensive coverage on your car -you are out of luck and will have to pay out of pocket for the damage.
Depending on how bad the damage is – you may want to consider having a paint-less dent repair company give you an estimate to repair the car. This is usually much cheaper than a body shop repair.
no, it is covered under the comprehensive part of your auto insurance.
someone said that homeowner’s insurance never covers your vehicle, that is incorrect. if someone were to break into your vehicle and steal your laptop (e.g.) that could be covered by your homeowner’s insurance assuming the amount stolen was more than the deductible. but anyway, just throwing that out there.
YOu are not the only one who met this problem,I have met this type of problem before.I have good experience here to solve my similiar problem.
