Is it legal for homeowners insurance to demand photos and receipts of repairs done on a denied claim?

change insurance companies and I would ask them why if they denied coverage
if your insurance is giving you a hard time, yes, change your insurance. i do not have a problem with my insurance.
If denied then no reason to provide. I would however be curious about their motives. I bet although they denied your claim, they will now raise you premuim payments because you have requested coverage for something that happened. Reason they will give is that you are a risk because you had some sort of damage that is of concern about your liability as a customer. Another way to ***** you. Just watch and see when its renewal time for you coverage.
Insurance companies share data bases so if you go elsewhere then this request for claim will most likely dog you. You need to find an insurance company like Triple A (AAA) that is not for profit and does not jerk customers around.
In my opinion they are trying to verify whether or not you filed a fraudulent claim. If you refuse to cooperate, they no longer want to do business with you. What I’d do is to change insurance companies before your current policy expires. Be sure to shop around and pick an insurer with a good reputation. You can check with the insurance commission in your State for reference information.
doesn’t really matter if its legal,if its their policy,then you have to do what they are asking,you do have a choice though,you can always get another carrier,or put enough money into an escrow acct. that will cover the limits that your lender requires,if all they want is pics.,and receipts,go ahead send them,they’re going to win anyway.
