my baby is a mix, we actually don’t have renters insurance … keep meaning to get that … Our landlord DOES know what she is a mix of (Rott & pit) but our landlord also dog sits for us and gives her cookies so … for insurance purpases we will probably refer to her as a Rott mix or Mutt.
They didnt ask about ANY of my pets. I do know my fathers insurance went way up when my nephew brought home a pitmix he had to have extra insurance on just the dog alone (state law) When he moved in with me and brought the dog we changed insurance companies I did inform them that we had a brittany spaniel, lab, bulldog and a mutt in our home…lol her mom is a boxer so she’s a “mutt” several birds, and snakes as well as 5 horses on our property
I don’t have any “dangerous” breeds of dogs any more, however, when I had my Rotties, I had no problem getting any homeowners insurance. I believe that it is either State Farm or Nationwide that doesn’t even ask if you have a dog, much less the breed.
My family has had APBT’s as far back as I can remember. We’ve had no problem with our homeowner’s insurance.
Mine is 1/2 Rott and 1/2 Aussie. I always label him “mutt” or just acknowledge the Aussie in him when looking for a place to rent, filling out paperwork, etc.
