Comprehensive is ONE line of coverage on your policy, that covers YOUR car for fire, theft, vandalism, flood, wind, hail, etc.
Third party property damage, covers OTHER PEOPLE’S property that you damage with your car, when you hit them. It won’t ever pay YOU.

Third party is the “other guy.”
Comprehensive is when your car is an innocent victim. It was “minding its own business” when vandals, thieves, hail, falling tree branches, etc attacked it. If you run into a boulder on the road that’s collision. If a boulder rolls down a hill and hits your car, that’s comprehensive. If you hit a tree, that’s collision. If the tree falls over and crushes your car that’s comprehensive.
