Lana asked:
I am trying to find out the average homeowners’ insurance rates in New Haven, CT, but I can’t find any place that will just give me an estimate- they all want phone numbers, addresses, or something else personally identifying that I don’t want to give. Could someone please give me an estimate, or a website I could go to?
I can give the address of the house, and all the other information, but I don’t want to give out my phone number, or my personal address, or my social security, or, if possible, my e-mail.

I don’t know.
Um, they have to have that information to give you an estimate/quote. There is no way to give you a quote without it. It depends on home value, things in the home, address, etcetera. Give them the information or have your house uninsured.
Nope, you can’t. Is the average house worth $200,000 to rebuild? Is the average house brick, or frame? Is it in a protection class 3, or 9? Is it 5 years old, or 75? Does it have any prior claims? And even MORE important, what’s the credit score of the average homeowner?
In other words, there ISN’T an “average rate”. Or rather, there’s an average rate for $200,000 houses that are 10 years old, frame, in a protection class three with no prior claims and the owner’s credit score of 750. If even ONE of these is “off”, it will TOTALLY invalidate a guess.
No doubt the easiest way to get insurance quotes is on the web.
Why would you waste your time on the phone calling around?
the last time i needed quotes on insurance i used one of these comparison sites and it was great.
this is the site i used and it was quick like less than 5 mins.
The last thing I want to do is listen to elevator music while waiting for a salesman.
Anyway I got good quotes and ended up saving money so I was happy.
So shop around and compare quotes which is easy on the net.
Good starting point is at this site.
Good luck.
