What are some things to look for, and which would you recommend?

it really depends on what you are looking for and what your needs are. i would try who ever you have your auto with. you should get a discount on placing both lines of business with them. make sure whatever company you go to has an “A” rating. make sure you get replacement cost on your home AND contents. i would advise you to carry at LEAST $500,000 liability. this protects you if you are sued and in today’s world, its almost, if not as, important as your home protection coverage. liability is the cheapest part of the policy and if you ever need it, you will be happy you have it.
As an agent I currently write probably 80% of the homewoners policies I receive through Safeco. they are quick are claims and offer incredible coverages at very decent rates. If you need to know more you can contact me at.
Those are two good ones, but there are others. It’s hard to figure out yourself, which is why I recommend speaking with an insurance broker. A broker works with many different companies and can find the best coverage and price for you. To find one, log onto a website like and request a free quote.
