Will home owners insurance replace burned counter-top?

Lucia Maria asked:
I burnt my island counter top with a pan. Will home-owner’s insurance pay to replace all of the counter tops in my kitchen or only the island? I would like to have a different color, but of course I couldn’t if they will only replace the one part. If that is the case, then it might not make sense to file a claim.

Depending on your deductible on your homeowner insurance, it most likely would not be worth the claim. Insurance companies will only replace what is dammaged, then they most likely will raise your insurance cost due to you filing a claim.
Here is the thing they will definitely not replace your counter top for that. It was your fault anyway.
Homeowners insurance is for things that happen that you did not do. Not that you did.
They are to protect you from theft, natural causes, and damages by burglars and all so no.
If it was by break in even they would replace what was in error on one area unless it is unavaiable.
You know when you make claims you really want to take into consideration your deductible. It is not worth the $1000 deductible for new counters.
It really is not even worth it for a $500 deductible. They only comp what you have not anything.
Hope this helps.
counter tops are very cheap…
and yes if they replace the burnt top..it would be only the burnt section and you are to buy one comparable/matching..
you could possibley get the cash and get the entire area done in a “burn proof” product similar to granite made with earth friendly products and not have to worry about burns..
as the concrete countertops…that even are look like marble.
your insurance will go up..but you will not have to worry about burns again..
also with a claim..you may be refused an insurance policy if you decide to change companies..because your risk has changed..
Phone your Insurer and ask
