Please give me an idea of your home insurance premiums if you live in a neighborhood in Toronto East. For example, I was quoted $ 1,046/year by a company for a semi-detached home. I’d like to do a really loose comparison.

thats too expensive. forget about land, think about how much it cost to rebuild your house probably $ 200k and insured to that amount. don’t ask for quotation, go to allstate and tell them what you want.

Obviously its an insurance contract, but I’m trying to figure out what type of contract it is.

It’s a unilateral contract. That means, the insurance company writes it up, and the policy holder has to take it or leave it, as is, and can’t change any of the wording.

Yes you can however most homeowners policies have a 1% of the value of the home as a deductible so it wouldn’t be worth it. There are riders to get around this but not many people have them. Check with your insurer. Good Luck.

Had subsidence 1995.Repaired & fully piled & underpinned so house as solid as a rock but virtually impossible to get insurance quotes so stuck with present expensive company.

I’m sorry, I don’t know of any insurance companies that will take on a house with a prior subsidence issue.

A question asked by Perry Silverstein: Can my home insurance raise their price for owning a bully breed if it’s a service animal?
I am getting a pit bull as a service dog; she will be official. My question is this: in the state of Colorado, can the insurance company raise the price of our home insurance for having a ‘bully breed’, if she is a service dog? Or is that an infringement upon my rights as a disabled person?

No. Service animals don’t qualify for that through national laws.

Depends on when the Adjuster comes. Usually 1 or 2 weeks after the adjuster signs off.

for my rental property? Is it a good idea to switch home insurance to rental insurance when a tenant is living in my rental property just in case if they smashed some holes on the wall, or some damages on the property?

Insurance on your personal residence covers the house and contents. A fire policy on rental property only covers the structure, but not the tenant causing damages. That’s what the security deposit covers.
