My daughter (a minor) is staying with a friend at the friend’s parents house. My daughters laptop ended up missing (coincidently while they were having a bit of an argumeent) while staying there and am wondering if this something that may be covered under the friends parents homeowners insurance?

I purchased a steam vacuum. the instructions said that it could be used to spot treat carpets and gave instructions on how to do so. I followed the instructions perfectly. It got too hot and burned my carpet; melted the fibers. I need my carpet replaced. Will my homeowners insurance cover it because it was an appliance that defaulted?
they will cover up to 2500 for faulty appliances that damaged my home. but im not sure that vacuums are included. it actually caught fire which im assuming caused the steam to get hot enough to burn the carpet. it ruined a large part of my carpet that i dont have the money to replace. the vacuum company will replace the vacuum but will do nothing for the damage it caused to the carpet.
why would they cancel my coverage for a claim like this??
