Have AAA home insurance . National vendors are coming up with the replacements for all the items. Have lost almost all that i had in my home but the insurance plan says either a replacement of the item or the depreciated price. What should i take ? Please share your experiences.

I recently moved out of my parents home to another state but had not yet switched my car registration, tags, and insurance to the new state so the car is still registered to my parents home. My car was recently broken into in the parking lot of my new apartment and my insurance company is saying that the items stolen would only be covered by homeowners insurance. Since I have not yet switched my registration to the new state, do I still have a claim with my parents homeowners insurance. Also, I do not have renters insurance at my current apartment.
